Nam Mi Jeong, known professionally as Nam Gyu Ri, is a South Korean singer, dancer, actress, and former member of SEEYA (씨야). She graduated from Danggok High School and later obtained two bachelor's degrees, one in Applied Music from Myongji College and another in Theater and Film from Kyung Hee University. She made her debut in February 2006 as the group's leader and vocalist with their first album, "The First Mind". Their debut album was an instant hit, and their following material was also met with commercial acclaim and won several prizes. However, she began hinting at the possibility of leaving the group to focus on her acting career. This caused a lot of internal conflicts as the other 2 members often claimed all group activities, concepts, and songs had to be based on her preferences. In April 2009, she stopped participating in group activities, alleging her contract had ended. MBK Entertainment (MBK엔터테인먼트, formerly known as Core Contents Media) decided to replace her with a new member. As rumors of SEEYA's possible disbandment increased, she decided to return to the group for one last time in late 2010 before the release of the final compilation album, "See You Again". In January 2011, the group officially disbanded with a presentation on SBS's "Inkigayo". A few months later, the agency decided to re-launch the group, now called THE SEEYA, but with an entirely different lineup. The original members had a brief comeback in 2020 for an episode of JTBC's "Two Yoo Project Sugar Man Season 3". She is now focused on her acting career, winning the New Star Award at the 2010 SBS Drama Awards for her work in "Life Is Beautiful" and the Excellence Award for an Actress in a Monday-Tuesday Miniseries at the 2020 MBC Drama Awards for her work on "Kairos".
