Higo Katsuhiro is a Japanese comedian and actor from Naha, Okinawa. He is the leader of the comedy trio Dachou Club (ダチョウ倶楽部) and is affiliated with Ohta Production (太田プロダクション). He graduated from Okinawa Prefectural Naha Technical High School (沖縄県立那覇工業高等学校). Although his official birthdate is March 15, 1963, he was actually born on July 15, 1962. Higo's father passed away before he entered junior high school. During high school, he studied industrial design and worked part-time as a waiter to support his tuition. After graduation, he briefly attended a driving school and then moved to Tokyo, where he worked as a commercial designer for six months before returning to Okinawa. He later moved back to Tokyo to pursue a career in comedy, initially attempting to apprentice under Hagimoto Kinichi (萩本欽一) before joining Sugi Heisuke's (杉兵助) entertainment group in Asakusa. Before forming Dachou Club in 1985 with Terakado Jimon (寺門ジモン), Ueshima Ryuhei (上島竜兵), and Nanbu Torata (南部虎弾), Higo worked with the Kont Akashingo (コント赤信号) group and appeared in small film roles. In 1987, after Nanbu left the group, Higo became the leader of Dachou Club. Higo married a former actress before gaining fame, and they have three children. In his early twenties, he developed acute lumbar disc herniation from physical labor. Despite not undergoing surgery initially, he suffered from chronic back pain for nearly 20 years. However, following a prescribed exercise routine, his condition was fully resolved by 2011. In 2013, he published a book about his recovery. (Source: MyDramaList) Edit Biography
