Kim Min Seok, known professionally as Xiumin, is a South Korean singer, dancer and member of EXO (엑소). He graduated from Inchang High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Applied Music from Catholic Kwandong University and a Ph.D. in Culture and Arts from Hoseo University. In early 2011, SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) formed two separate groups, EXO-K and EXO-M, with plans to have one perform in South Korea and the other in China. He made his debut in April 2012 as EXO-M's sub-vocalist and sub-rapper with the Chinese version of their first EP, "Mama". For several years, the groups performed separately until the release of their third EP "Overdose" in 2014 when they began performing as a single group and have continued to do so until now. In October 2016, he joined Baekhyun and Chen in sub-unit EXO-CBX (엑소-첸백시) and debuted with their first EP "Hey Mama!". He enlisted for his mandatory military service on May 7, 2019, and he was discharged on December 6, 2020. In September 2022, he made his debut as a solo artist with the mini-album, "Brand New". In June 2023, he notified SM Entertainment his decision not to renew his expiring contract. Then, in January 2024, it was announced that I&B 100 (created by Baekhyun) would manage the individual activities of Baekhyun, Chen, and him as well as their unit activities as EXO-CBX, while SM Entertainment would continue to manage their group activities as EXO.
