Kim Min Jong

Born 1972-03-23

Kim Min Jong is a South Korean actor, singer, and member of THE BLUE (더 블루). He graduated from Anyang Arts High School and later obtained an associate's degree in Acting from Seoul Institute of the Arts. He made his debut in 1988 with a role in the movie "Don Quixote on Asphalt". He became widely known as a matinee idol for his gentle but serious image, and during the 1990s, he starred in popular TV series that later became the precursors of the K-drama wave around Asia. In 1992, he and fellow actor Son Ji Chang decided to join in a duo called THE BLUE.. They debuted with their first album, "Love, Separation Story". Then, they went their separate ways for a while but reunited in 1995 for a second project. He launched his career as a solo artist, but in 1996, he faced a serious controversy when his single "The Sad Path to Return to Heaven" was deemed a copy of the Japanese song "Summer Dream" by Tube. He faced public criticism and decided to quit at the peak of his career. He spent two years in a self-made retirement until he came back with a new album. He returned to acting and, in 2009, he and Son decided to re-record some of their old hits and released a four-song single album and, during that year, went on official THE BLUE promotional activities. The duo has never disbanded but has not released any new material since then. In 2012, his management agency, SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트), designated him as a non-executive director of one of its subsidiaries, SM Culture & Contents (SM C&C). In July 2023, he left SM after 17 years, as he decided not to renew his contract. He then opened his own label, KC Contents (KC컨텐츠), where he works as the CEO. (Source: MyDramaList) Edit Biography
